MINOXIDIL

The only topical treatment approved by the FDA to treat hair loss.

First approved by the FDA in 1988 as Rogaine, minoxidil has been proven to be effective. In fact, its so effective that it can even grow hair elsewhere on the body – for example the beard area.

And while drugs that reduce DHT levels – such as finasteride and dutasteride – are effective at maintaining hair, minoxidil is the most effective for regrowth.

Reported side effects include scalp irritation in around 6% of users, headaches, and rash. It may take anywhere from several months to one year to see an effect. The early use of Minoxidil is recommended to help prevent the spread of small areas of baldness.

FINASTERIDE
Finasteride is a prescription drug and is taken in tablet form and has a specific effect on an enzyme called 5 alpha-reductase which can produce high levels of DHT causing subsequent hair loss.  It is not generally advised to treat female hair loss as it can affect male foetuses.

There are other hair loss remedies which when used in combination with  the above can improve hair loss. If you would like to discuss these further please get in contact below.
