Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a relatively new technique, which leaves minimal visible signs on the patient’s scalp, which is ideal for a hair transplant on patients with very short hair or a short hairstyle.

PROCEDURE 

Follicular Unit Extraction is performed under local anesthesia.  During the FUE procedure, each follicular unit is extracted using a micro-punch knife, which is 0.6 to 1 mm in diameter.  This method is a longer procedure than FUT, but this technique ensures that both the donor area and the transplant area retain a natural look after surgery. 

 

RECOVERY

FUE surgery lasts 6 to 8 hours, but the recovery is relatively short.  Although there is no scar, there may be some short-term swelling and discoloration, which should subside in 10–14 days.
